Yes. With Motoring Assistance, the registered vehicle is covered whoever is driving. If someone else is behind the wheel when the vehicle breaks down, they can simply call us and quote the vehicle registration to arrange help. You don't need to provide us with the details of anyone else who may drive the vehicle.
If your vehicle breaks down, simply call us on 0330 113 2433. Our lines are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year - and one of our friendly UK-based operators will be ready to assist you. We aim to arrive in an average of 43 minutes and repair around 80% of vehicles at the roadside.
No - we do not provide breakdown memberships for vehicles that have already broken down or have an existing fault; however, we can offer paid services if you get caught broken down without cover.
No. There are no callout fees or excesses to pay when you use your Motoring Assistance membership. You would only be charged if the assistance you require isn't covered by your membership or falls outside the terms of your cover.
Yes, passengers can travel with the recovery vehicle. This is up to a maximum of 5 passengers (including the driver).
Personal Cover is an optional add-on that covers you if you break down while driving another eligible vehicle, not just the vehicle registered on your membership. It's available with our standard Vehicle Cover memberships, but isn’t available with Business Cover. The vehicle you're driving must be under 15 years old and cannot be a van or commercial vehicle.
Yes, we do! We only sell these memberships over the phone - so if you have a motorhome or campervan simply call us on 0330 113 2433 between the hours of 8 am and 6 pm Monday to Friday and one of our agents will be happy help.
No. We don't cover taxis or private hire vehicles, including personal vehicles being used for ride-sharing services such as Uber or Bolt
Yes - all our memberships come with a mandatory 72-hour inception period before they become active. If you have already broken down, do not purchase a policy online - simply give us a call on 0330 113 2433 and one of our agents will be able to arrange immediate assistance.
All of our breakdown memberships include Roadside Assistance, Local Recovery, Unlimited Callouts and Accident Assistance as standard. If you break down, we'll try to get you back on the road at the roadside. If your vehicle can’t be repaired, we'll recover you, your vehicle and up to 4 passengers to a destination of your choice within 10 miles. For recovery to a destination anywhere in the UK, you can add Nationwide Recovery to your membership.
If you're involved in an accident, we can recover your vehicle from the roadside to a nearby secure storage site - getting you off the road when you need it most. Once the vehicle is in storage, we will liaise with your insurer, or the at-fault party's insurer, to arrange the salvage or repair of the vehicle.
Home Start covers you if your vehicle breaks down at your home address. We'll attend your vehicle and try to get you back on the road.
If we're unable to repair your vehicle, we'll recover it to a garage of your choice within 25 miles.
If you use your vehicle for business purposes, you'll need a Business Membership. This includes carrying tools or equipment, travelling to more than one place of work, or using a sign-written vehicle.
If your vehicle is being used for business purposes but is covered by a standard membership, we may be unable to provide assistance under your membership. In this case, we may be able to offer a paid callout instead.
All of our breakdown memberships include Unlimited Callouts, so there's no limit to the number of times you can call us for assistance throughout the year.
We don't cover repeat callouts for the same unresolved fault, so you'll need to make sure a permanent repair is carried out following our attendance.
Yes. All members have access to our online Customer Portal, where you can change the vehicle on your cover, update your personal details, view upcoming payments, manage your renewal options and cancel your membership.
Yes. Annual memberships are set to automatically renew. You can turn off auto-renewal at any time through our Customer Portal. We'll contact you before your renewal date with your annual renewal price. If you don't renew annually and your auto-renewal remains active, your membership will continue on a lower monthly payment to make sure you remain covered in the event of a breakdown.
Monthly memberships have a minimum term of 12 months. After the first 12 months, your membership will continue on a monthly basis at the same price until you choose to cancel.
Once you've completed the initial 12-month term, you can cancel your membership at any time.
To change the vehicle on your breakdown membership, simply log in to your account and head to the ‘Manage My Membership' tab - where you can change the vehicle on your membership and make changes to your level of cover.
If you break down, make sure you and your passengers are in a safe place before contacting us.
Once you're safe, simply call us on 0330 113 2433 and quote your vehicle registration or membership reference number. Our breakdown team is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Our average arrival time to roadside incidents is just 43 minutes - we'll always prioritise people who are at the roadside as their safety is of paramount importance to us.
Once your callout has been logged, we'll start contacting recovery operators in your area to find the most suitable provider with the best available arrival time.
We'll provide them with the details of your vehicle, location and suspected fault so they have the information they need before they arrive. If your vehicle needs to be recovered, we'll also provide them with the agreed recovery destination.
Yes, we have recovery operators across all the UK and Northern Ireland. We work with a large network of trusted recovery partners, so whether you break down in the Highlands, Peak District or Cornwall, help is available wherever you are.
Yes - if your car breaks down while you are towing a caravan or trailer we will recover your car and tow your trailer/caravan too, as long as it adheres to the following specification: Maximum Gross Weight: 3 tonnes, Maximum Length: 7.0 metres (including draw bar and coupling) and Maximum Width: 2.55 metres
No - our network only extends to the UK (including Northern Ireland). We do not offer cover in Europe.
We work with an extensive nationwide network of independent recovery operators and roadside technicians rather than operating our own fleet.
This gives us access to recovery vehicles across the UK, helping us find an available operator close to you when you break down while also keeping the cost of our memberships competitive.
Specialist equipment may be needed when your vehicle can't be accessed or safely loaded onto a standard recovery vehicle.
For example, this could be because your vehicle is in a multi-storey car park with restricted access, or has a damaged or collapsed wheel that prevents it from being moved normally.
The use of specialist equipment isn't usually included as part of your breakdown cover and may result in an additional charge.
