How Your Accident Assistance Works…

Make sure we’re the first people you call if you’re involved in an Accident

All Motoring Assistance customers receive Accident Assistance FREE with their breakdown membership. But what is Accident Assistance, and how can you make the most of it?

While your breakdown cover is for mechanical or electrical breakdowns, the Accident Assistance feature also extends to road traffic collisions. (Assuming your insurance is fully comprehensive and your vehicle is being driven legally on the public highway.)

How does Accident Assistance work?

Step 1:

If you’re involved in a road traffic collision and your vehicle becomes undrivable or unsafe to drive on the public highway, call us on 0330 113 2433. This includes a collision with another vehicle, road furniture, standing water or foreign objects

Step 2:

We will deploy our nearest specialist accident recovery unit to your location. We will load the vehicle and recover it to the nearest approved storage facility, where it is safe and off the road.

You can continue your onward journey by public transport or taxi. In some circumstances, our collision recovery driver may be able to give you a lift to a nearby destination, but this can’t always be guaranteed.

Step 3:

Once you’re safe and sound at home, you’ll need to make a claim with your insurer so we can arrange the release or delivery of your vehicle for salvage or repair - whichever your insurer sees fit.

You will be able to come and collect any belongings from the vehicle while it is in storage.

Why use Accident Assistance?

There are two main benefits to using your Accident Assistance before calling your insurer…

The first is that at Motoring Assistance, we answer the phone in under 60 seconds on average. Insurers often cannot rival our response rate, which our customers find invaluable when they’re in a distressing situation such as a road traffic collision.

The second benefit is our arrival times. We’re experts in roadside assistance and recovery - whereas some insurers have famously left their customers waiting at the roadside for hours while they arrange a recovery unit. We have recovery units ready and waiting 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Important to Note…

Accident Assistance can be used on BOTH Fault and Non-Fault incidents.

You must be fully comprehensively insured to use Accident Assistance feature.

If you are not comprehensively insured, or your insurer deems that the incident and subsequent repair are not going to be covered, then you may become liable for the recovery and storage charges incurred.
